The Port Authority is pleased you advise that it will temporarily be accommodating the local fish market at the South Terminal on Harbour Drive from its previous location on North Church Street.  This will allow the local fishermen to have a safe environment from which to conduct business.  They will be setting out and guiding the customer flow pattern to ensure social distancing is maintained by their customers and we ask that the public cooperate with them in achieving this.  The venue is on the roadside so it is easy to see and reach and there are restrooms available to the public during their operating times.  It is anticipated that they will commence operations during the week of May 11th, 2020.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the dedicated staff of the Port Authority of the Cayman Islands (PACI) has been working hard for Cayman.  Their efforts ensure there is no delay in food reaching the grocery stores, medicines reaching our health care facilities, vehicles and supplies that keep essential services running and that Cayman will be ready for commerce when the government decides it is safe to resume.  Here are a few pictures of how we make it all happen for Cayman.

The cargo vessels arrive and are discharged by our dedicated staff during the night.

The cargo is taken to our Cargo Distribution Centre where it is available to the grocery stores that same night and to all customers from the following day onward by the team working daytime.

It takes a host of people to keep it all flowing; Cargo Operations nighttime and daytime, IT, Safety, HR, Finance and Billing, Facilities Maintenance, Human Resources, Harbour Patrol, Taxi Dispatchers (who have been reassigned duties with Facilities), Port Security and our contracted Security, K9 Security; our Janitors, A1 Cleaning Services and last, but not least, our Management and Administrative Team, who are working in excess of 12 hours most days.  I thank you all and I am proud of the service that you are giving to the Port Authority and our country!

Sincerely,

Joseph Woods

Acting Port Director.

The Port Authority of the Cayman Islands would be very grateful if customers to its facilities would wear a face mask or other covering over their nose and mouth while on PACI’s facilities for the protection of all around.  We want to continue to serve everyone in an environment that is safe for you and our staff.  Thank you.  Joseph Woods, Acting Port Director

The Government and Port Authority of the Cayman Islands (PACI) have placed no restrictions on any type of cargo being imported.  Companies and individuals wishing to collect their cargo, both dedicated and LCL, can apply for exemptions to do so by emailing exemptions@caymanport.com However, freight brokers like, CICA and Miracle Brokers, receive consolidated containers from forwarders in the USA and these brokers are responsible for clearing, collection, unloading and delivering of the goods from these containers. PACI is not responsible for, and does not discharge or deliver the consolidated cargo from these containers for those brokers.  That is all done by them.  Persons who have imported goods via those brokers should speak with and arrange with these brokers for the collection of their cargo from them.

The Port Authority of the Cayman Islands wishes to sincerely thank Cayman Distillery for donating free hand sanitizer to the Port Authority.

Acting Port Director

I am grateful to our committed staff who work around the clock to ensure there is an uninterrupted flow of cargo into the Cayman Islands and who provide our customers with exceptional customer service!  It takes a large team across many departments to make it work: Management, Crane Operators, Forklift Operators, Truckers, Tally Clerks, Labourers, Pinmen, Signalmen, Stevedores, RTG operators, Yard Management Dispatchers, Mechanics, Customer Service & Delivery Clerks, Finance and Accounting Staff, Human Resources staff, IT staff, Facilities Maintenance staff, Security Staff, Taxi Dispatchers who are now reassigned to other departments, Harbour Patrol, Receptionist and Messenger.  It is because of that cohesiveness that the flow of cargo and fuel continues unhindered into the Cayman Islands.  All cargo vessels are arriving as per their regular schedule and are being discharged as normal.  The large importers are able to collect their containers the same night as they arrive and should there be too many for them to collect during the night time, PACI’s hardworking staff is there to provide the same exceptional service during the daytime as well.  I therefore would like to salute and thank the hardworking team of PACI.  Sincerely,  Joseph Woods Acting Port Director.

The Acting Port Director would like to inform the public that our Cargo Distribution Centre Warehouse is now full to capacity and we will be open on Saturday, March 28th, from 8:30am to noon for anyone who has cargo cleared and ready to collect from the Cargo Distribution Centre.  We will not turn any customer away and will remain open until the last customer is served.

The Port Authority of the Cayman Islands (PACI) has received lots of calls from importers regarding the application of storage fees and would like to advise that storage fees will be waived where it is justified and applicable for goods that arrived after March 21, 2020 and where the  importers were unable to collect prior to the imposition of the Caronavirus prevention/containment curfew by the Government.   Unfortunately, with the volume of goods being imported, space is at a premium and PACI would very much appreciate importers clearing and collecting their goods in a reasonable time.  For those genuinely impacted by the curfew, we will waive storage fees, but for those who could have, but did not clear and collect their cargo, storage fees will apply.
