Standard Definitions
|
| DRY Container stowed with dry (non-refrigerated) cargo. |
| REEFER Refrigerated container. |
| TEU Twenty foot Equivalent Unit. This is the general term used for a 20ft container. The nominal size of vessels is given in TEU and refers to the number of containers that can generally be carried. |
| CONTAINERIZED General cargoes carried in a freight container. |
| BREAK-BULK General cargoes carried in a ship which are shown on separate Bills of Lading. |
| BULK Cargo shipped in loose condition and of a homogeneous nature e.g. grains, coal, iron, ore, cement. |
| CARGO Includes all imported cargo; containerized or other but excludes aggregates. |
| AGGREGATES Sand and gravel - mainly imported from Mexico, Jamaica, Colombia, Cuba, and Honduras. |
| TON Short tons equals 2000 lbs. |
| CEMENT Mainly imported from Cuba and Honduras. |
